BIRTHDAY PARTY! – a praise that is so sweet and thrilling just to hear. A child’s birthday is a celebration for each other and a class event. Perhaps the cake plays the biggest role in making the children excited. However, cakes are made up flour, butter, eggs and lots of sugar. So technically it is not a very healthy thing to eat. As the thought went to our kid’s health, we start to look for if we can make the cakes healthier.
Breaking away from the custom of eating a cake full of sugar and fat on your birthday, we decided to make a fresh, healthy and beautiful fruit cake with watermelon and lots of fresh fruits. We also informed our parents of our concerns about ready-made cakes and our desire to make healthier cakes, and asked for their understanding and cooperation.
Our efforts have yielded better results than expected. Our children LOVED the fruit cakes and we were very proud to help our children enjoy much healthier cakes as well as break stereotypes about cake and broadening thier ideas.
